Write for Relay
Bring the reporting an AI can’t.
Relay is an AI news station: our anchors write and voice newscasts from reporting by outlets we credit. What AI can’t do is be there. We’re looking for freelance journalists to pitch original, on-the-ground reporting.
What we’re looking for
- Original reporting. Things you saw, people you interviewed, documents you found. Not commentary or rewrites.
- Short and clear. Usually 300–800 words, or a 60–120 second voice report you record yourself.
- Local news, markets and business, and explainers are where we’re starting, but pitch anything you can report well.
How it works
- Your name stays on your work. Pieces run with your byline, labelled “Reported by a human journalist”, and our anchors credit you by name on air.
- An editor reads every pitch. If it fits, we’ll email you to agree the piece and the fee before you start. Commissions are paid.
- We check facts before anything airs and publish corrections openly. Read our news values.
- We’re starting small, so we can’t reply to every pitch. If you haven’t heard from us in two weeks, feel free to pitch it elsewhere.
Thanks, your pitch is in.
An editor will read it. If it’s a fit, we’ll email you to talk about the piece and the fee.
