Relay Local community guidelines

Every report is read by a Relay editor before anything is published. These are the reasons we may not be able to use a report. If yours isn’t used, we’ll email you which guideline applied and what you can do next.

  1. Not about Nassau County. Relay Local covers Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island, Yulee, Callahan, Hilliard and the rest of Nassau County, Florida. If it does affect Nassau County, you are welcome to send it again and say how.
  2. Not a news report. We publish events and information that matter to the community. Ads and promotions, personal disputes, and opinions with no event behind them are not news reports. Opinions and letters are welcome through our contact page.
  3. Already reported. Someone has already reported this, or Relay is already covering it. If you have something new, such as a photo, a time or an update, send it as an update to the story.
  4. Not enough to verify. We need to be able to confirm when, where and how something happened before we publish it. If you can add those details, you are welcome to send it again.
  5. Private information. Reports must not reveal private details about people, such as home addresses, phone numbers, health information or information about children. You are welcome to send it again without those details.
  6. An accusation we can’t support. We don’t publish accusations of wrongdoing against a person or business without evidence we can check and a chance for them to respond. If you have documents or other evidence, send them with your report.
  7. Content you don’t have the rights to. Photos, video, audio and text must be your own, or you must have permission to share them. You are welcome to send it again with only what you took yourself or have permission to share.
  8. Spam, harassment or harmful content. We don’t accept spam, threats, harassment, hate, or content meant to mislead.

A report that isn’t published is never made public. If you think we got it wrong, ask us to look again. Not being published doesn’t count against you as a contributor, unless a report breaks guideline 8.
