Relay Local contributor terms

Draft (version 2026-10-30-draft). These terms are pending legal review before Relay Local opens to the public.
  1. Your report is private until an editor publishes it. Relay editors may publish it, edit it for clarity and length, add context, or decide not to use it. Your original words are always kept with it.
  2. Only send what you have the right to send. You confirm you took the photos, video or audio yourself or have permission to share them. You keep your copyright; you give 24/7 Relay News (Chimes In LLC) a non-exclusive license to store, review, publish and adapt them for Relay Local and its website. Using them in a newscast needs your separate permission (a checkbox on each report).
  3. Be accurate and fair. Say what you saw yourself and what you were told. Don't send rumors as facts, accusations you can't support, or private information about other people (addresses, phone numbers, license plates, children's details).
  4. Not an emergency service. Sending a report does not alert police, fire or any agency. In an emergency, call 911.
  5. Credit. Published reports say they come from a community member. Your name is shown only if you choose to be credited and an editor agrees.
  6. Corrections and removal. You can withdraw a report before it is published. After that, ask us to correct or remove it at contact; corrections are shown on the report.
  7. Accounts. We may limit or close accounts that send spam, harassment, impersonation or deliberately false reports. You can appeal by contacting us.
  8. Your data. See the privacy policy: your email is used to sign you in and to ask about your reports; location details in your files are removed before anything is published.
